  • 1. Cut the white part of his face from white felt. Pin it to his face (don’t glue yet). The top of this white piece is located at rounds 7 and 8 of his head in my Piplup and bottom is at the beginning of his head, close to his body;

  • 2. Sew his beak really close to the white piece of felt. Top of the beak is at rounds 11 and 12 of his head. After 2/3 of the beak is sewn stuff it a bit with fiberfill and finish sewing;

  • 3. Using the same yarn that you have sewn his beak, embroider the line between the top of his beak and the bottom. What I did was to go from one side to the other and then make a stitch at the middle to prevent yarn from moving;
  • 4. Don’t glue the white piece yet. Sew his cape to his body. Align the join of the two circles to the center of his beak. Cape is sewn at the join of his head and body;
  • 5. Sew his arms. Top between rounds 21 and 22 of his body and bottom between 23 and 24;
  • 6. Sew his feet.  Use his beak as reference to align;
  • 7. Before gluing the white piece, use a piece of light blue yarn (same color as body) to embroider his crown like detail at his face. If you don’t want to embroider, just make it from felt;
  • 8. Glue the white piece really close to his beak, crown like detail and body;
  • 9. Cut two balls from white felt to make the detail in his body and glue;
  • 10. Paint hiss eyes using black and white paint;
  • 11. Finally, let’s crochet these two pikes at his back. I made them crocheting directly in his cape. To make the smaller one I crocheted a sc and to make the bigger one a sc and a trc. That’s what I did: Insert hook at the center of his cape between the edge of sl st and row 8 and take it out trhought rows 7 and 8, attach with a chain and make an sc. The, make a trc and attach it to rows 6 and 7. Finish off leaving a long tail. Using this tail insert hook between rows 6 and 7 and take it out in rows 5 and 6, attach with a ch and make a pb. Then hide yarn tips.

I did not created this character, Piplup is copyright of Nintendo!!

  2. Hi, I love your pattern! I was wondering if the back of its cape is sewed completely to his body.
