Princess Lumpy Space Keychain

Hi, my friends!

I thought that Jake was feeling lonely, so, I decided to make a company for him :D I know I should have done Lady Rainicorn or Finn, but, they can wait a little to be made :x I decided to do one of my favorite characters, which is Princess Lumpy Space, haha ^^ Hope you like it!

Materials:

– Light Purple Yarn;
– 4mm and 2.5mm crochet hooks;
– Fiberfill;
– Tapestry needle;
– Scissors;
– Pliers;
– Black and yellow felt;
– Contact glue;
– Keychain or cord.

Notes:

– I always do my crochet works using continuous rounds;
– Everytime I will do a crochet work, the first thing I do is take a look in the entirely pattern before start doing it, so, I can have an idea of how the pattern works. Well, I recommend you to do the same;
– For sewing the pieces together you will use the tapestry needle;
– To make the eyes and star you will use the felt;
– You will only use the 2.5mm crochet hook to make Princess Lumpy Space hands.

Update (06.06.2015): Hi Guys! I want to thank you all for being so kind and for all the kindly words you sent me by comments or email! Recently, I’m having a hard time to answer all the questions sent to my email and the comments. I’m sorry that I’m not able to answer your doubts. However, if you have any doubt, I’m sure that it is worth to leave a comment here, because even if I can’t answer you, I’m sure that someone in the community will try to help you out ^^

Pattern:

– Body (4mm crochet hook)

Round 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
Round 2: 2 sc, inc (8)
Round 3: 3 sc, inc (10)
Round 4: 4 sc, inc (12)
Round 5: 2 Sc, inc (16)
Round 6: 3, inc (20)
Round 7-10: sc in each sc (20)
Round 11: sc 2, dec (15)
Round 12: sc, dec (10)
Round 13: dec
Finish off. Do not stuff her body too much, just fill her body with a bit of fiberfill and model it.

– Glob A (4mm crochet hook):
Round 1: 10 sc in MR(10)
Finish off and leave a long tail for sewing.

– Glob B (4mm crochet hook):
Round 1: 12 sc in MR (12)
Finish off and leave a long tail for sewing.

This glob, for having so many stitches, probably will be with a big hole in its center, like in the photo bellow:

glob

So, to hide it, we will sew a bit in its inside, like this:

glob1

glob2

Repeat it until you think the hole is hidden.

– Glob C (4mm crochet hook):
Round 1: 6 sc in MR (6)

– Glob D (4mm crochet hook):
Round 1: 4 sc in MR (4)

– Arms And hands (2.5mm crochet hook):
Row 1: ch 2, sc from the second chain from hook (1)
Finish off. Leave a long tail, which will be her arm and it will be used to sew it to the body. After finished off, pass the yarn through the middle of her hand in order to centralize her arm.

Assembly:

globs

1. Sew globs “A” to her body (fill it with some fiberfill);

2. Sew globs “B” to her body (fill it with some fiberfill);

3. Sew globs “C” to her body (fill it with some fiberfill);

4. Sew globs “D” to her body (fill it with some fiberfill);

5. Sew her arms to her body;

2. Sew her arms to her body (It is the same way as Jake, if you wanna see some photos, check his parttern out here):

I. With the tapestry needle pass the yarn thorugh one hole between two scs;

II. Tie a knot and hide the rest of yarn. After that, use some contact glue to fix the knot.

6. Make her star using yellow felt and scissors and glue it with contact glue to her body;

7. Make her eyes and mouth using black felt and glue it with contact glue to her body (if you prefer, you can make her eyes and mouth embroidering);

8. Now, finally, let’s put the keychain:

I. Pass a ring through some hole in the middle of her head

ring

II. Put the keychain and close the ring with pliers

That’s it! ^_^

  3. I’m really trying to understand this pattern but for some reason I just cant.

    Round 2: 2 sc, inc (8)
    Round 3: 3 sc, inc (10)
    Round 4: 4 sc, inc (12)

    so in round 2 do you single crochet in the first stitch and then single crochet in the next, then increase in 8 stitches?

    1. No, you are going to repeat this sequence (2sc, inc) until the end of the round. Make one sc in the first stitch, then another sc in the next and finally increase in the next stitch. Repeat this until the end. Same in the next rounds.

  4. I don’t understand how to fill in fiberfill on each glob since you only require to make 10sc in the magic ring and end it. Can clarify it a bit more please. Thank you.

    1. Hi Susan,
      You will crochet only the 10sc in magic ring and end it. After that, sew a bit more than a half of her glob to her body. When you have done that, put some fiberfill inside the glob and sew the rest of it.
      It is impossible to put fiberfill before it is sewn.
      You are very welcome ^^
