Cardcaptor Sakura Wand and Pen

Hi all!

The first pattern of 2015 is based on the Wand/Staff used by Sakura on the first season of the anime Cardcaptor Sakura <3 This anime was a very special piece of my childhood and, when I was a child, I used to ask to my father to make her wand for me, hehe! Now, I can make my own wand, yay! Oh, moreover this wand is also a pen! However, if you don’t want to make a pen, just follow the pattern normally and don’t put the pen inside the stick.

This was another secondary project I was working. I hope you like it ^^

Materials:

– Red yarn (I used Esterlina 5 by Coats, which is a Light Fingering / 3 ply);
– Pink Yarn (I used Esterlina 5 by Coats, which is a Light Fingering / 3 ply);
– Gold yarn (I used Esterlina 5 by Coats, which is a Light Fingering / 3 ply);
– White Yarn (I used Anne by Circulo, which is a Fingering / 4 ply (14 wpi)) (You may use Esterlina here too, I think it won’t be a problem);
– 1.75mm crochet hook;
– Fiberfill;
– Tapestry needle;
– Scissors;
– pen cartridge (I used a pen cartridge from BIC) or a 4mm diameter pen;
– 4mm diameter tube (The one I used I got from an old TV antenna);
– Pink/Red (It is a pink almost red) bead;
– Contact glue.

Notes:

– I always do my crochet works using continuous rounds;
– Everytime I will do a crochet work, the first thing I do is take a look in the entirely pattern before start doing it, so, I can have an idea of how the pattern works. Well, I recommend you to do the same;
– For sewing the pieces together you will use the tapestry needle;
– To make the wand as a pen you will need a very tine pen with 4mm diameter or a tube with 4mm diameter and a pen cartridge. I used a tube and a pen cartridge;
– To make the round jewel of the wand you can use a pink bead or you can make a crochet circle.

Update (06.06.2015): Hi Guys! I want to thank you all for being so kind and for all the kindly words you sent me by comments or email! Recently, I’m having a hard time to answer all the questions sent to my email and the comments. I’m sorry that I’m not able to answer your doubts. However, if you have any doubt, I’m sure that it is worth to leave a comment here, because even if I can’t answer you, I’m sure that someone in the community will try to help you out ^^

– Assembly:

** If you are going to make the pen, you won’t stuff the stick with fiberfill, just the “beak”. If you aren’t going to do the pen, stuff the stick and put a thin wire to make it rigid.

1. Insert the 4mm diameter pen or the 4mm diameter tube in the stick and then place it where it should be in the “beak” and then sew the stick to the beak;

    Olá. Por você usar linhas aqui do Brasil, suponho que você esteja aqui… Como você faz p descobrir quantos ply tem cada linha? Seu blog foi uma salvação p mim nisso, pq agora sei q a Anne q tanto uso é uma 4 ply. P amigurumis costumo fazer de acordo com a agulha q quero usar mesmo, mas para receitas de tricô, infelizmente isso é bem importante.
    Seu blog é tudo de bom!!!

    1. Olá, Raíza! Eu também não sei identificar isso! Geralmente tento olhar se essa informação consta no Ravelry, só por lá consigo saber. Geralmente faço o mesmo que você, vou pelo tamanho da agulha de crochê que quero usar. Dá uma olhada no Ravelry, é uma comunidade excelente de tricô e crochê e lá há informações sobre diversas marcas de lãs e linhas, inclusive brasileiras. Beijos.
