Teacher – Pink Floyd, The Wall

Hi guys!!

This time I’m uploading a pattern related to the music universe. It is one of the main characters from Pink Floyd album (and movie) The Wall, which is just perfect. I’m a fan of the band and I really appreciatte the albums from Roger Waters era, moreover The Wall is my favorite one, because I think it is a master piece. I love everything in this album, specially the message it tries to pass. I think that if you don’t know it, you should give it a chance ;)

I don’t know if I’m going to make other characters, but if I decide so, the next one is going to be Pink’s mother.

Materials:

– Light green yarn (I used Alfazema by Circulo, which is a Aran / 10 ply (8 wpi));
– Navy yarn (I used Alfazema by Circulo, which is a Aran / 10 ply (8 wpi));
– Black yarn (I used Alfazema by Circulo, which is a Aran / 10 ply (8 wpi));
– White yarn (I used Alfazema by Circulo, which is a Aran / 10 ply (8 wpi));
– Grey yarn (I used Alfazema by Circulo, which is a Aran / 10 ply (8 wpi));
– Yellow thin yarn for his tie (I used Anne by Circulo, which is a Fingering / 4 ply (14 wpi));
– Red thin yarn for his tie (I used Anne by Circulo, which is a Fingering / 4 ply (14 wpi));
– White acrilic yarn just a few to make his hair;
– Black acrilic yarn just a few to make his mustache;
– 4mm and 1.75mm crochet hooks;
– Fiberfill;
– Tapestry needle;
– Scissors;
– Wire if you want to make him poseable;
– Paintbrush;
– Red, black, white, grey fabric paint;
– Black felt to make his suit buttons and white felt to make his eyes, mouth, mustache and the wall symbol;
– Contact glue.

Notes:

– I always do my crochet works using continuous rounds;
– Everytime I will do a crochet work, the first thing I do is take a look in the entirely pattern before start doing it, so, I can have an idea of how the pattern works. Well, I recommend you to do the same;
– For sewing the pieces together you will use the tapestry needle;
– You may use wire to make him poseable and it is necessary if you are going to make a long neck. If you don’t want to use wire, you should make his neck smaller.

Update (06.06.2015): Hi Guys! I want to thank you all for being so kind and for all the kindly words you sent me by comments or email! However, if you have any doubt, I’m sure that it is worth to leave a comment here, because even if I can’t answer you, I’m sure that someone in the community will try to help you out ^^

Assembly

1. Sew his feet to his legs. The MC should be in his front and the end of the shoes at his back;

20150424_165242

2. Sew his suit pieces together.

– Sew each front piece to his back piece as show in the photo below:

– Sew the collar

3. In this step I sewed his suit to his body a little bit in order to fix his suit and prevent it to be loose. This is where I made it fixed:

6. Put his tie atound his neck and fold one of its tips and sew it to make something similar to a knot as shown in the photos below:

4. Paint the black part of his mouth
eyes
5. While the black paint still fresh, use some red paint to make a gradient at the edges of the center part.

14. Make his mustache using black felt. Also, I decided to cut some black acrylic yarn and brush it with a hair brush to make it fluffy and, then, I glued some of this yarn to the felt. Finally, I glued the felt to his face.

20150427_211419

15. To make his hair first cut some pieces of white yarn. Then attach them to his head in the three places he has some hair. Follow the same steps of Charizard’s tail to make his hair. Give it a nice cut and at the end use some hair gel to keep his hair in the right place.
